Vagrancy.. it’s a slippery slope

The future is in our hands

If left unchecked, the downtown core could go the way of many others, turning into a slum where there is limited potential for investment.

Let’s consider the future of our city. If the current trajectory continues, the very appearance and vibrancy of our community could be at risk. This is not just a concern for residents; it’s a significant worry for our local business owners, who may feel compelled to close their doors or relocate.

It’s time to act decisively

to ensure that Terrace remains a safe and prosperous place for everyone.”

Vagrancy in Terrace is a problem.

And it seems to be getting much worse in recent years.

I am sure everyone wants vagrant people off the streets of Terrace. I definitely want that to happen even if it is one person at a time.

In my humble opinion, people need help finding a purpose in their life and I plan on creating a program to do exactly that.

It is my hope to set a community example and work with all levels of government to create a new path forward for People in need.

Obviously there’s much more to the story. And it’s not about throwing money at the problem, because the problem is systemic and issues run much deeper, including Drug and alcohol addiction.

I would call my program

Lifeline

There are people out there that don’t want a lifeline.

Vagrancy is a pressing issue in Terrace, and it’s clear that the problem has worsened in recent years. My approach isn’t about making homelessness illegal. Instead, I propose a program called ‘Lifeline’ that focuses on addressing the root causes of vagrancy – issues like addiction and lack of opportunity. Lifeline will connect people with existing support services and help them find purpose and stability. I believe everyone deserves a chance to thrive. My goal is to work with all levels of government to create a more vibrant prosperous future for our community.
